ScottsMiracle-Gro Field                          Columbus Crew MLS Stadium

Project overview

ScottsMiracle-Gro Field, the new Major League Soccer stadium for the Columbus Crew in downtown Columbus, Ohio, is a purpose-built, 20,000-seat venue designed to elevate fan experience and strengthen the identity of the club within the city’s urban core. The stadium features a dynamic arrangement of stands tailored to reflect the diversity of Columbus neighborhoods, a striking canopy that covers every seat, and a series of multipurpose club and lounge spaces that support game-day hospitality and year-round activation. Outdoor gathering zones, terraces, and a generous public plaza extend the stadium experience beyond match days, fostering community engagement and anchoring future neighborhood development around the site.

Details

My role on the Columbus Crew MLS Stadium project was Senior Interior Designer, leading the interior design scope from project inception through completion. I led the project through programming, space planning, and schematic design for all interior environments across the stadium, establishing the overall interior design vision during the early phases of work. I was responsible for the programming process and development of floor plan layouts for all interior spaces, as well as design concepts for all premium areas, including the four unique clubs and the suite level.

The project utilized a collaborative design approach, with Blur Workshop joining the team during Design Development to further develop and execute the design concepts. I worked directly with their team to refine floor plans and translate the established vision into fully realized interior environments, while maintaining design intent and overall project cohesion.

Leading the design for the player and coaching spaces — including the locker rooms, family suite, offices, and amenity spaces — I created a dynamic, one-of-a-kind locker room experience unique within Major League Soccer. These spaces established a new benchmark for player amenities, functionality, and design quality across the league.

From early programming and concept development through construction administration and final photography, I was closely involved in the project through every phase. Seeing the stadium fully realized was especially rewarding, reflecting a comprehensive design process rooted in collaboration and design excellence.
