The COMCARE Community Crisis Center project focuses on the interior renovation and planning of a specialized healthcare and support facility designed to serve individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. The scope includes intake areas, counseling and assessment spaces, staff work zones, and support functions, all carefully designed to prioritize safety, dignity, and trauma-informed care. The in-progress project emphasizes calming materials, clear circulation, and functional layouts that support both patients and staff, creating a welcoming, secure environment that enhances the delivery of critical community services.
Led the project from initial planning through the current phase of construction, directing the design vision and guiding the team in developing a layout that works seamlessly for both patients and staff, ensuring flow, functionality, and accessibility support operational efficiency and comfort. Guided designers and consultants through programming, adjacency studies, and design development—aligning technical coordination and creative intent to bring the project vision to life.
A core focus of the leadership approach was ensuring the project met the client’s goals of creating a safe and secure environment without compromising aesthetics, mentoring the team in balancing clinical requirements with warmth and hospitality. Every decision—from circulation strategy and spatial planning to material selection, lighting, and finishes—was thoughtfully reviewed and refined to enhance wellbeing, foster a positive experience, and create a cohesive, human-centered environment. The result is a facility that integrates operational performance with design excellence, delivering both safety and serenity for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
